Turn a solid draft into an engaging novel with reader-ready prose, even if hiring a professional editor isn’t in your budget (yet).
Price: $198 $397

Created by a professional editor & indie author specializing in fiction. I built this course combining the real & techniques I use when I edit client novels with a clear framework I've tested on my own novels.
You know how to write. You’ve watched countless YouTube videos, read all the craft books you could find, but somehow you’re still staring at the same sentence because you know it’s not quite right, but you don’t know what to fix or how far to take it.
You don't need more tips on writing.
You don’t need more vague advice like “show, don’t tell” or “tighten your prose.”
You need to learn how to be an editor. And editors have a clear, repeatable system that tells you:
This course is designed for fiction authors who want a clear path for their revisions at the sentence level. As long as you’ve finished your developmental edits, this course will meet you exactly where you are.
It’s never too late to learn a better framework for revising your novel.
Whether you’re a seasoned writer or just starting out, with personalized feedback from myself, you will grow as a writer and as an editor.
If you’ve ever thought:
This course is for you.
What if…
PLUS:
The real transformation is more than a clean manuscript—it’s better editorial instincts.
A professional editor will almost always elevate a manuscript.
I didn’t create this course to substitute using an editor.
However, I know (from experience) not every author can afford full line & copyediting for every book. It’s a huge investment.
And I believe financial restriants shouldn’t mean your work can’t be strong. So what I help you with is creating a quality book, even when an editor isn’t within your budget.
Before you think…
Clear theory and examples. No matter your experience, every lesson is designed to help you understand what you can revise and also why you should revise it.
Personal feedback without time limit. I give you personal feedback on your writing and meet you at the level you’re at. I will support your growth any way I can.
While there is a limit to how often you can request feedback, this isn’t tied to a specific time (like a year). If life happens and you need to step away, you can always return to the course material and the feedback.
Short lessons, clear module structure, self-paced. I’m a mom and freelancer. I get not having enough time to do everything.
That’s why this course is completely self-paced; you don’t have to rush to get to a certain checkpoint within a certain timeframe.
Each lesson has a time indication so you know how much time to set aside. The course has a clear structure with a process you can apply to one chapter at a time.
While the homework will take more time, that is the work that’ll help you grow (and you don’t have to complete each assignment all at once).
You can't line edit to emphasize your voice if you don't know what that is. This is a crucial first step that sets up the foundation for the rest of your edits.
To really hone your skills, it’s important you repeat the process for at least two more chapters (and ask for more feedback!). Pick some techniques you struggle with and dive deeper by using the recommended resources.
Once you have a good grasp of the material, I teach you how to condense everything you’ve learned into a quicker way to revise your book. By the end, you’ll have a finished product you can be proud of.
This isn’t another writing course or self-help strategy that gives you the info and shows you how, but leaves you to implement it without knowing if it’s right.
You don’t need to watch more YouTube videos. You don’t need more books on writing craft.
You need clear steps and expert feedback that helps you grow.
Hi, I’m Iris!
I’m a professional editor working with fiction and nonfiction authors to level up their book. And I love that job.
But I actually taught myself to be an editor because I’m a fiction writer. And while there are so many resources and courses on writing your first draft, there is little out there to teach you to effectively self-edit your work (and know whether you’ve applied it correctly).
I do know now that editing someone else’s book is an entirely different experience from editing your own. But that doesn’t mean we can’t use those same techniques to elevate our stories, even if we’re too broke for a professional editor. (Yes, that’s also me. Ironic, right?)
This is the framework I created for myself. And it’s the one I wish more authors had access to.
Other programs that include feedback are usually open for a limited time and come with a hefty price tag. This course isn’t priced like that.

Yes, you will need an already written work to apply the lessons in this course. This doesn't have to be a full manuscript, but it can also be a short story, novella, a few chapters, etc. As long as you've already tackled the developmental/structural issues in your writing, you can follow the lessons within the course.
At the moment, I'm still working on the course. So yes, you do get access to everything at once, but the course isn't fully developed yet. That's also why the course is currently priced much lower than usual. The aim is that you will receive a new module each week.
You will have 45 feedback "credits" in total. This means you can ask for my feedback a total of 45 times. Each time, you will fill out a form and send me a piece of your edited work (up to 500 words). You'll indicate what particular technique you'd like feedback on. I will then send you back your feedback in video form and with a PDF with comments.
This will depend on how fast you'd like to go through the course. However, each module has an estimated timeframe to help you decide how much time you should set aside for the lessons and homework. I would recommend doing at least 1 module each week to keep momentum, which would equate to a maximum of 3 hours each week total.
Yes, I've created this framework to work with any fiction genre. In the first module, we'll analyze your voice. This includes anything that's particular about the genre you write in. That way, you'll know whether it's accepted to have more exposition or more internal monologue, for example.
Because the course is currently discounted, I do not offer refunds at this time.
No, this course doesn't include developmental editing. While I'd love to offer a course for that in the future, I don't currently have that. So please make sure the writing you want to use for the course has gone through developmental editing.
This course meets you where you are. Each lesson starts with the theory and examples to help you understand the techniques involved. While you may struggle more with the homework if you're a beginner, the feedback is there so I can provide you with the support you need.
If you're more experienced, you may already know some of the techniques. However, you'll likely also learn new things, and you'll get feedback on what else you could work on.
Not at all. It's a framework with steps to help you decide more easily what you should revise and what you should leave alone. And while there's guidance on how to revise certain things, it's still up to you what particular words or phrases you use.
You can! And if you have the budget for it, I do recommend it. This course isn't a substitute for an editor. However, applying these techniques to your writing will likely lead to a lower invoice when you hire an editor.
In addition, an editor can only work off what you send them. If the work is good, they can help make it great. If it's mediocre, they can help make it good. The better the writing they start with, the better the final result.
